A woman was seriously injured Thursday morning when involved in a crash along SR534 in Penn Forest Township.

The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. as the driver was traveling west and for some unknown reason lost control. Her car left the right berm, rolling onto its side and into a utility pole.

She was trapped in the wreckage for about an hour before being freed by members of the Albrightsville Fire Co.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being flown via MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown. Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the roadway for two hours. State police at Fern Ridge, assisted by Kidder Township Police, are investigating the incident.
