A Schuylkill County man was jailed following an incident in Carbon County.

Jim Thorpe police said about 11:29 p.m. on Feb. 25 they were dispatched to the Broadway House, located at 46 Broadway, for a domestic incident between two guests.

On scene officers were told by Beth Ann Dougherty that she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Casey James Steffanic, 37, of 1732 Center Turnpike, Auburn. According to Dougherty she and Steffanic had been drinking earlier in the evening and she observed him asleep in a hot tub. She said after seeing this she grabbed Steffanic to prevent him from going under the water.

Steffanic struck her in the mouth breaking her tooth and then grabbed her by the throat, Dougherty claimed.

Steffanic was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post $2,500 straight cash bail.
