Quick response saves home; motor home, shed destroyed

Quick response by firefighters from throughout Carbon County saved a home while a motor home and large wooden structure were destroyed by a raging fire Wednesday afternoon in Mahoning Township. The fire was first reported around 3 p.m. as a shed fire along Boyko Drive just north of Beaver Run Road. But as volunteer firemen raced to the scene they could see a large plume of black smoke for miles. When five communities arrived on scene they found a motor home and large wood frame structure fully involved in flames, just a matter of feet from a home. One team of firefighters sprayed water on the home as others attacked the stubborn flames being fed by fuel, tires and strong winds. Reportedly, members of the Carbon County Adult Probation office were in the area and spotted the fire and called 9-1-1. They also alerted the homeowner, who was asleep at the time. No injuries were reported in the incident.
