Nesquehoning council discusses changes to chief's contract

Published April 05. 2012 05:01PM

Following the March monthly meeting of Nesquehoning Borough Council, council entered into an executive session to discuss the contract for Police Chief Sean Smith.

Council approved the long overdue contract last December with a 4-3 vote; however, 2012 council members have sought legal advice to determine if changes could be made with regard to the present contract.

Additionally, it was announced at the last council meeting that the borough's insurance company had settled with former Police Officer Nick Saullo in the amount of $47,000 following mediation. Attorney fees for Saullo are to come out of the $47,000 settlement. Saullo was also cleared of any wrong doing.

Also, as part of the settlement is a letter of agreement stating that Saullo will not seek employment with the borough.
