Fire scare in Walker Township

Numerous fire trucks and emergency vehicles saturated the area around Valley Road and West End Drive in Walker Township around 8 a.m. today while responding to a possible house fire at 17 West End Drive. A resident of the home called 911 after smelling smoke. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras (TICs) and other detectors to check for any dangers. None of the tests were positive and no smoke or fire was visible. Responding were Citizen's Fire Company, American Hose Company, Tamaqua's ladder truck, New England Fire Company, Tuscarora Fire Company, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Tamaqua Ambulance and New Ringgold Ambulance. Fire police detoured traffic around the area for the response.
