A Tamaqua woman escaped injury after losing control of her car on a wet Schuylkill County roadway.

State police Frackville said Geraldine A. Schuetrumpf, 51, was driving a 2000 Ford Focus eastbound on SR443 in East Brunswick Township, about 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28. She failed to negotiate a right curve just after heavy rain fell in the area. The car spun around multiple times, troopers said, before traveling north through the westbound lane.

The car left the road and impacted with the embankment and trees where it came to rest.

Schuetrumpf was wearing a seat belt, troopers noted. She was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the West Penn Township and New Ringgold fire companies.
