Woman seriously hurt in crash

A young woman was seriously injured after being involved in a violent crash Tuesday afternoon along Lizard Creek Road (SR895) in East Penn Township. The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. as she was traveling east just leaving West Penn Township in Schuylkill County. For some unknown reason her car left the right berm traveling up a grass berm before impacting with a clump of large trees. A combination of rescuers from the East Penn Fire Company, Penn Mahoning and Mahoning Valley ambulances worked to free the heavily entrapped victim. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being flown by MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh

Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. The roadway was closed

for several hours. Township police are investigating the incident.
