EASTON, Pa. (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania man has been has been ordered to stand trial on charges of having killed his housemate more than a decade ago.

Robert Schmidt of Bath, who turns 56 on Thursday, is accused in Northampton County of having shot 26-year-old Robert Sarko in 2000 and buried his body in Moore Township. His body was found two years later. Schmidt was charged in July after prosecutors took the case to a grand jury.

Schmidt pleaded not guilty to homicide Monday and the charge was sent to Northampton County Court for trial. His attorney unsuccessfully sought dismissal of the case, saying a key witness had changed his story and was only trying to save himself. Prosecutors were granted bail for that witness to ensure that he testifies at trial.
