Coal Township man hurt in crash

Published September 24. 2011 09:01AM

Clinton J. Honicker, 35, of Coal Township, was injured in a tractor trailer crash at 10:05 a.m., Sept. 21 on the offramp of interstate 81 southbound in Delano Township, according to state police at the Frackville barracks.

Police said he was transported to the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, by the Ryan Township Ambulance Corps. Police said he sustained minor injuries.

Police said he was traveling in the left lane of the offramp during very dense fog conditions. Police said he was driving too fast for conditions and attempted to avoid a collision with other vehicles in roadway when he drove his vehicle, a 1993 Mack dump truck, onto the grass median, where he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned partially in the left lane of travel.

Police said the left lane of the ramp was closed for about four hours due to the cleanup of the material in the truck.

Honicker will be cited as a result of the crash.
