Schuylkill man facing charges

A Schuylkill County man is facing charges following an incident that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 17, and involved the shooting of a dog.

State police at Frackville said William Roger Weand, 44, of 201 Tyson St., New Ringgold, shot a dog in his yard about 4:50 p.m. Weand shot the dog after he felt threatened by the animal, according to troopers. State dog law officer Diane Buhl is investigating the incident.

Troopers said after the dog was shot Weand allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at Larry Padora, 37, of New Ringgold, after he had confronted Weand about the shooting incident.

Weand was charged with simple assault - physical menace, reckless endangering and harassment.
