Palmerton man admits to drunk driving count

Published September 16. 2011 05:01PM

A Palmerton man entered a guilty plea to driving under the influence (DUI) on Thursday morning in Carbon County court.

Larry Allen Schweibinz, 57, was scheduled to have a non-jury trial before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb when he changed his mind and pleaded guilty.

Schweibinz was arrested along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton on Oct. 14, 2009. Given a test, the result was .25BAC.

Schweibinz was originally placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders but was revoked from it for failure to complete all conditions.

Webb accepted the plea and placed Schweibinz on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
