WAHS to hold 'Meet the Teacher Night'

Published September 14. 2011 05:01PM

Meet the Teacher Night will be held at Weatherly Area High School on Wednesday, Sept. 21 beginning at 6 p.m. Parents are invited to attend an opening presentation in the gym and then follow the student schedule. A copy of the class schedule will be available that evening from a PTA representative, located outside the gym doors.

Each teacher will speak on the following: Curriculum, discipline, conferences, subject scheduling, grading, homework, and student expectations. The schedule will allow for about 10 minutes per classroom visit.

Francine Holley, food services director, will be on hand to answer any questions parents may have. High School Principal and Acting Superintendent Thomas McLaughlin will also be available, as will guidance counselor Ron Kelshaw and school nurse Rebekah McFadden.

Individuals may also sign up for PTA Membership that evening; a one-year membership is $7 per person, with a family of (2) memberships being discounted to $12 until Sept. 30. No child care will be provided that evening.

Parents and guardians are reminded that this event is not for parent/ teacher conferences. This evening is set aside simply to meet your child's teacher(s) and learn about the curriculum for the upcoming year.

Those needing to talk to a child's teacher may call the office for an appointment.

Call PTA President Donnell Stump at (570) 579-8801 with questions.
