Glenn Millen of Mahoning Township will be a participant in a special Sept. 11 anniversary program at the New York Jets football game Sunday.

Millen, a captian and a veteran pilot for American Airlines, will represent the airline when a large American flag is unfurled during the pre-game ceremony.

Two pilots and a stewardess from both American Airlines and United Airlines will participate in the program, along with police officers, firefighters, and military personnel. Terrorists used those two airlines in their attacks on the World Trade Center.

The game will be held in East Rutherford, N.J., with the Jets hosting the Dallas Cowboys in an 8 p.m. contest.

"I was humbled to be selected," said Millen, a 25-year veteran pilot who flies international flights, from JFK to Europe and South America, for American Airlines.

A son of the late William and Margaret Millen, he is a 1970 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and of Kutztown State College, where he played football and lacrosse.
