Despite lingering rain showers, over 300 runners and walkers took part in the 21st annual edition of the Truskey Memorial 5K Run and Walk and 10 K Run held August 27 at the Tuscarora State Park in Barnesville. The event is sponsored by Wayne and Pat Truskey through the Tamaqua Runners Club in memory of the Truskeys' sons, Christopher and Kevin, both former Tamaqua High runners who were killed in separate auto accidents. Proceeds raised from the races benefit the Truskey Scholarship Fund, which provides collegiate scholarships for the top senior scholastic runners in the event. The Truskey family stressed their appreciation to all the dedicated volunteers that come out every year to help put the event together.
