Community meal

From 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, a free community meal will be served at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are invited for a meal and fellowship.

Palmerton VFW

At 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, the Palmerton Memorial VFW Post 7134 will hold its monthly meeting at the Palmerton VFW, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. New members are welcome.

Historical society

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will host a meeting on Monday, Sept. 12, beginning at 7 p.m. with a short business session. The meeting will take place in the gallery of the Palmerton Area Library. The speaker will be Brenda McCandless, who will discuss quilts and quilting. The public is invited to attend without cost or obligation.

Heritage Center

The Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is currently displaying a second group of antique quilts. So many quilts were loaned to the historical society that not all would fit in the feature room at one time. The Heritage Center is open different hours from Wednesday through Saturday each week, plus the Sunday of the Community Festival weekend (Sept. 11). Phone (610) 824-6954 for a recording listing the hours each day.

Cub Scouting

Boys in first to fifth grades in the Palmerton Area interested in Scouting may attend sign-ups at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, for Pack 0041. The date is Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.

For Pack 0209, sign-ups will be Sunday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Jerusalem U.C.C. Church picnic grove, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville.
