Pigs clinch berth

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs clinched the Wild Card in the International League after beating the Syracuse Chiefs, 4-1, in a rain-shortened game that was called with one out in the top of the sixth inning.

The IronPigs will now advance to the first round of the IL playoffs, where they will begin a five-game series against the IL North champion Pawtucket Red Sox.The IronPigs will host the opening two games of the series on Wednesday and Thursday night.Nate Bump got the win for the IronPigs as he went all five innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk against the Chiefs.With Erik Kratz at the plate, the game was delayed with bases loaded and one out. After waiting out the mandatory 45-minute delay period, the game was called the IronPigs officially claimed their first playoff berth in franchise history.Playoff tickets went on sale Tuesday at 9 a.m. They can be purchased by calling (610) 841-PIGS or by visiting the Coca-Cola Park ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased at ironpigsbaseball.com.During all IronPigs home playoff games, fans are encouraged to wear red.
