Tigers open with field hockey win

Northwestern opened the season with a non-league field hockey win


Central Catholic-Northwestern

The Tigers scored three goals in each half to roll over Central Catholic 6-1 in a non-league contest.

Kylee Bennett scored two goals, while Alec Lerner, Caileigh Landrigan, Tiffany Gumina and Sara Jones added the others for the winners. Jones also had one assists.

Northwestern outshot the Vikettes 27-2. Tiger goalie Lorraine Feinur had one save.

Pleasant Valley-Nazareth

The Eagles defeat the Bears by a 3-1 score.

Wilson, Salisbury-Palmerton

The Bombers and Falcons tie 431-431, but Salisbury picked up the win when tey went to the sixth-man tiebreaker.

Palmerton's Ben Andrews took medalist honors with a 67 at the par-72 Blue Ridge Country Club. Wilson's David Olexsom had a 78, but the Warriors forfeited their match since they only had four golfers.

Lake Lehman-Weatherly

The Wreckers picked up a win, but Lake Lehman came back to win three games in a row in a non-league volleyball match by scores of 26-28, 25-18, 25-19, 25-23.

Alicia Panzarella had 20 kills for the Wreckers, while Alyssa Miller had seven kills, 17 digs, one assist and three aces. Jessica Adamczyk added five kills, eight digs and three aces and Shannonsarosky had two kills, 23 digs and one ace.

Weatherly also lost the JV match 27-25, 25-16.

Easton-Pleasant Vy.

The Bears and Red Rovers battled it out in their non-league season opener with Pleasant Valley coming away with a win in five games, 21-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25-19 and 15-13.Stats are as follows

Breanna Joseph had 12 kills, nine blocks, seven digs and three aces and Courtney Miller eight kills, and nine blocks for the Bears. MacKenzie Dorney added 27 digs and five kills, Andrea Giardina 17 digs and three aces, Steph Schmitt 15 assists and two aces and Katie Lenart 19 digs.

PV also won the JV game 25-16, 25-19.
