Cyclist is injured in Polk accident

Brian A. Wardell, 21, of Kunkletown, was injured in a motorcycle accident at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 30 along State Route 3010 (Mill Pond Road) in Polk Township.

According to state police at the Lehighton barracks, he was trapped under his 1981 Yamaha and was later transported in the Pennstar helicopter to the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill. Police said he sustained moderate injuries.

Police said he was southbound when he failed to negotiate a right curve. The cycle traveled off the roadway and fell to its right side, trapping the victim under it.

Charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
