A Carbon County woman was cited for retail theft at a business in Luzerne County and later jailed.

State police at Hazleton said Dianne Lynn Lutz, 42, of Lehighton, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 26, about 3 p.m. at Boscov's Department Store in the Laurel Mall in Hazle Township.

Troopers allege that Lutz was observed placing various merchandise totaling $494 in two separate bags and walking out of the store without paying for the items. She was stopped by store security and held until troopers arrived.

She was arraigned on charges, which is rated a felony three because of prior retail theft arrests, before a district judge. She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Troopers further noted that Lutz was on probation in Lehigh County and was incarcerated in the county prison in Wilkes-Barre on a detainer filed by Lehigh officials.
