A Carbon County man pleaded guilty in Northampton County court this week to charges of stalking and indecent assault.

Joseph Kulp, 39, of Lehighton, entered his plea to the charges which stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 20 in Walnutport.

According to police Kulp was in the Dollar Store, at 200 S. Best Ave., when he touched the buttocks of a 13-year-old girl. The police investigation revealed that Kulp saw the girl outside the store and kept staring at her.

He parked his vehicle and followed her inside the store where the incident occurred. After he made contact with the girl, she screamed.

Kulp ran from the store but the manager of the store got the license plate of his vehicle and turned it over to police.

Kulp, who has no prior record, entered his plea before Judge Paula Roscioli.

She accepted the plea but deferred sentencing and ordered that Kulp undergo a mental health evaluation. Sentencing is set for Dec. 9.
