A Schuylkill County man has been charged with the theft of a dump truck.

State police at Frackville said on Monday, Oct. 27, a dump truck belonging to Blaschak Coal Corporation, SR54, in Mahanoy Township, was found in Bloomsburg. The 2002 Ford F350 truck was stolen on Sept. 21. Troopers said the truck was equipped with a GPS tracking device which led police to its location.

As a result of an investigation Donald E. Funk, 23, of the 400 block of W. Mount Vernon St., Shenandoah, was taken into custody and interviewed. He confessed to taking the dump truck. He said he stole the truck because it was raining and he didn't want to walk in the rain, troopers said.

Funk was charged with theft of the truck. Troopers noted he is also facing criminal charges related to the theft in Columbia County.
