Being replaced for the second time is the sidewalk and crosswalk ramp located in front of the M & T Bank at the Five Points intersection in Tamaqua. Prior, Tamaqua Borough officials and other residents pointed out safety concerns regarding the steep grade of the initial construction. Rob Jones, Tamaqua Public Works director, said that contractors with Road-Con, a PennDOT subcontractor, are replacing the sidewalk and handicap curb ramp with a safer and reduced grade sidewalk and ramp. The project is part of PennDOT's Tamaqua Central Business District Improvement Project.
