Monroe man killed in Sunday crash

A Monroe County man was killed in a one vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning.

State police at Fern Ridge said William Chapnick, 26, of Saylorsburg, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound on the Effort-Neola Road near Bunny Lane, about 2:55 a.m. when he lost control

The car left the road and impacted with a tree on the passenger side. Chapnick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the West End Fire Company and ambulance and the county coroner's office.

The investigation into the crash is continuing. Troopers ask anyone who might have witnessed the accident to call them at (570) 646-2271.
