Two are robbed at gunpoint in Monroe

Two persons were robbed at gunpoint early today in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. along side Lower Mountain Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Troopers said Freddie Alvarez, 23, Shaun Miraihl, 23, and Shakir Kelly, 20, all of Effort, were seated in a vehicle when they were approached by another vehicle with its high beams activated.

Two individuals got out of the other vehicle and confronted the three, robbing them at gunpoint.

Both individuals had

weapons, troopers said. The two returned to their vehicle and fled the scene. There may have been a third person in the vehicle.

Troopers said the suspect vehicle was a sport utility vehicle or minivan. One suspect was described as being a black male wearing a dark blue sweat shirt, wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball cap and a white and red flannel type cloth wrapped around his face.
