Published October 21. 2011 05:02PM

State Representative Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) has arranged for the Mobile Veterans Center to visit American Legion Post 314 at 314 Veterans Ave., Lehighton, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs operates the Mobile Veterans Center to reach veterans in underserved areas. There are several Mobile Veterans Centers in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States.

"This is an easy and convenient way for area veterans to find information and access programs and services available to them," said Heffley. "I encourage veterans to keep these dates in mind and pay the mobile center a visit if they need assistance."

Some of the services provided through the center include:

• Individual and group counseling.

• Marital and family counseling.

• Bereavement counseling.

• Medical referrals.

• Assistance in applying for VA benefits.

• Employment counseling, guidance and referrals.

• Alcohol and drug assessments.

• Information and referrals to community resources.

Appointments are not required for Mobile Veterans Center services.

For more information, call one of Heffley's offices at (610) 377-6363 or (570) 722-8700. Visit and for information on legislative updates.
