Tamaqua man jailed
A Tamaqua man was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison last Wednesday, Oct. 12, following a domestic incident.
Tamaqua police were dispatched to 350 E. Union St., at 5:18 p.m. for a report of a disturbance.
On scene they spoke with homeowner Stephen Smolar Sr., who related that Samuel Smolar, 22, of 27 Franklin St., Tamaqua, kicked in the door and threatened him with a tire iron.
A juvenile female in the residence at the time of the incident, stated that Samuel Smolar grabbed her by the arm and tried to drag her outside.
The younger Smolar was taken into custody. A routine search turned up a plastic bag with green vegetable matter.
He was arraigned before duty District Judge Anthony Kilker, Shenandoah, on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, possession of marijuana and harassment.
Bail was set at $15,000 straight cash.
Smolar was unable to post the bail and was incarcerated.
