Overturned vehicle causes traffic mess in Tamaqua
ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS
Traffic was backed-up heavily just after 8 a.m. this morning on all major roads through Tamaqua following a vehicle rollover that occurred on the 300 block of West Broad Street (SR209) near the Greenwood Street intersection. The incident resulted in the closure of both lanes of West Broad Street, causing eastbound and westbound traffic on West Broad Street, as well as turning traffic from SR309, to paralyze downtown Tamaqua while emergency personnel responded to the incident. Reportedly, William Mushock of Tamaqua, driving a dark maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee east on West Broad Street, swerved to the right and into the driver's side of an unoccupied parked 1991 Dodge Dakota truck owned by Bernie Hannon of Tamaqua. This resulted in the Dakota being pushed into the rear of an unoccupied parked gray Ford Freestar owned by Evelyn Willing of Tamaqua. Responding were Tamaqua Police, Tamaqua fire department, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Tamaqua Ambulance and fire police. Officer Karl Harig is the investigating officer. No serious injuries were reported.
