Schuylkill man jailed for assault
A Schuylkill County man was jailed Tuesday evening, Oct. 11, for assault and other counts after he came home intoxicated. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 8:45 p.m. at 75 Suedberg Road, in Pine Grove Township.
Troopers said Charles Kimmel Jr., 20, of that address, returned home under the influence of alcohol and a verbal altercation occurred between him and his mother, Lori Kimmel, 44, and a 17-year-old female in the home.
The altercation escalated and became physical. Kimmel then allegedly grabbed his mother and the juvenile, shoved them and threw them about the bedroom. The juvenile sustained injuries to her back and elbow. During the altercation a laptop computer was broken.
Kimmel fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers. He was later located in the village of Donaldson and taken into custody. He was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, underage drinking and two counts of harassment.
He was arraigned before on-call District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
