The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce will host a public debate among the Schuylkill County Commissioner candidates today, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Tamaqua Community Center, rear Center Street.

Republican candidates will be Frank Staudenmeier, the current minority commissioner, and George Halcovage, an insurance agent and Schuylkill community delegate, while the Democratic candidates are Gary Hess, mayor of Schuylkill Haven, and John Plachko Jr., a building contractor.

"This debate will give local residents an opportunity to learn more about our county commissioner candidates and their stance on important issues" said Todd Miller, president of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. "I hope everyone will take advantage of this free event."
