A Berks County motorcyclist was injured in a crash in Carbon County. The accident was one of three investigated by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said Keith J. Garvey, 47, of Hamburg, was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson westbound on Lower Smith Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township, about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. He was negotiating a right curve and he scraped the right foot panel on the road surface causing him to lose control. The bike came to final rest on the south berm.

Garvey sustained a minor injury and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Palmerton ambulance. Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Lower Towamensing Fire Company.

Troopers said Garvey was cited for traveling an (un) safe speed.

Troopers investigated a two vehicle crash on Sunday along Interchange Road (SR209) at the intersection with Burger Hollow Road, in Polk Township, Monroe County, that occurred about 2:28 p.m.

Troopers said Nancy A. Matsko, 71, of Kunkletown, was southbound on 209 and John C. Dannels, 42, also of Kunkletown, was on Burger Hollow Road. At the intersection Dannels had a green light and traveled across 209. Matsko failed to stop for the red light and her 2007 Chevrolet Impala struck the side of Dannel's 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck.

After impact the truck rotated in a clockwise direction and struck a utility pole head-on. Both drivers were injured. Matsko was taken to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Dannels was treated at the scene. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Matsko for stop signs and yield signs.

A crash was reported about 6:24 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, along Interchange Road in Polk Township, near Mill Pond Road.

Troopers said Artan Kaliqi, 31, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was southbound while Joann Farda, 58, of Tannersville, was northbound. Troopers said Kaliqi began to drift off the north edge, over-corrected his steering, and crossed the double yellow lines into the southbound lane where his 1998 Acura Integra collided head-on into Farda's 2001 BMW 330.

Farda was injured and taken to the PMC by West End ambulance. Kaliqi was not injured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Kaliqi for careless driving.
