State police at the Fogelsville barracks said three persons were injured in a three-vehicle crash at 11:51 a.m. Oct. 7 on State Highway 100 in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County.

Injured were Edward S. Faust Jr., 19, of Germansville, Leon L. Gable, 41, of Northampton, and Samantha J. Fulminanti, 19, of Allentown. Police said all three victims sustained moderate injuries.

Police said the accident happened when Faust, driving a 2005 Mazda, was distracted while driving because he was texting while the vehicle was negotiating a curve in the roadway. Police also said the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time.

Police said he drove the Mazda into the northbound lane of travel and struck a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Gable. A third vehicle, a 1997 Fore F150 operated by Charlotte A. Bentz, 50, of New Tripoli, then struck the right side of the Silverado.

Fulminanti was a passenger in the Bentz vehicle.

Police said Faust will be arrested as a result of the accident.
