Two cited for disorderly conduct

Published October 07. 2011 05:02PM

Tamaqua police received conflicting reports following an altercation early Saturday morning, but were able to resolve the issue after reviewing security camera footage.

Officers were on patrol at 1 a.m. when they heard loud voices coming from the unit block of Mauch Chunk Street.

On scene the officer spoke with Joseph Spencer, 38, of 816 Lizard Creek Rd., Andreas. Spencer claimed he had been assaulted by Jake Bynon, 30, of 305 E. Patterson St., Lansford.

The confrontation started inside Freddie's Pub.

Spencer told the officer he left the bar and was struck by Bynon, causing him to strike the building. Spencer was bleeding from a head injury but refused medical treatment.

Bynon, who was located in the pub, claimed Spencer jumped on his back and was injured when Bynon backed into a wall.

Witness statements were also conflicting, supporting both sides of the story.

After watching the fight on video captured by a security camera, officers determined neither story was entirely correct and cited both men for disorderly conduct.
