Weissport Council plans purchase of new computer

Weissport Council met in a brief session on Monday night, during whic h the board approved the purchase of a new computer for council secretary Dana Brubaker.

Brubaker said that the current computer is a refurbished computer that has already crashed twice and needs replacing.

Council voted to allow her to spend $1,200 from the liquid fuels fund.

The board also approved sending $3,154.84 to the Lehighton Fire Department.

The money is funding the borough receives from fire insurance premiums which it turns over to Lehighton Fire Department because it is the responding department for the borough.

Council voted to purchase a bullet proof vest for the police chief for $695.

It also apporved payment of $275 for the purchase of metal grating to give the borough maintenance crew access to the ponding area for mowing.

The steel grating will be used to to replace fencing in that area.

It will be 1-1/2-inches thick and two feet by 12 feet.

Council also discussed cleaning out a drainage pipe and options to prevent future blockups.
