No paper drive

There will be no newspaper drive by St. John's Lutheran Church in December. The drive will resume in January.

Persons wishing to dispose of papers may take them to the garage across from the church on Fireline Road, which is always open.

Ecumenical service at Little White Church

The Palmerton Area Historical Society's annual ecumenical service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. (following the carol sing in the borough park) in the Little White Church at Third Street and Columbia Avenue, Palmerton.

Two of the pastors who served during the period of the church's history when the Slovak congregation met there will conduct the service. The scriptures, prayer, and benediction will be presented in Slovak. The congregation will have English translations. Another feature will be the Resurrection Ringers, the bell choir from Holy Trinity Lutheran will be the Resurrection Ringers, the bell choir from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton. They will be playing before the service and during it.

Caroling in the Park

Caroling in the Palmerton Borough Park will be at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, meeting in the gazebo. Light refreshments will follow at Living Hope Lighthouse Church. The public is welcome to join in this family tradition.

Historical society

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas dinner on Monday, Dec. 12, at the Blue Ridge Country Club. A Meet and Greet will start at 6 p.m., followed by a family style dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The speaker for the evening will be Jack Gunsser. His topic will be "Evolution of some Christmas symbols".

Lions Club to meet

The Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at the Fireline Hotel. A cocktail hour will be held. Advance reservations are required as this will be the club's annual Christmas Party. Members are encouraged to bring a guest and/or family member to the meeting.

Club members are reminded that they will not meet on Dec. 5.
