A Schuylkill County man, already facing charges of assaulting a woman in his home, is facing new allegations of sexual abuse of children.

State police at Schuylkill Haven have charged William John Shilbe, 54, of 2008 Village Rd., in Orwigsburg, West Brunswick Township, with having in his possession images of female children nude and also engaged in sexual acts with adult men. The photos are of children from infant age to pre-teen, troopers allege.He is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of children for having in his possession over 1,200 images of female children engaged in sexual acts.Troopers served a warrant on Shilbe's home on Nov. 9 as part of a drug and child pornography investigation. Seized during the search was several multi-media devices. The devices were analyzed by a state police computer crimes unit member who found over 1,200 images.Schilbe was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, and released on $50,000 cash bail, which he posted for the assault charge in the other pending case.In that case Shilbe was scheduled for a preliminary hearing yesterday but waived it to court. In the assault case troopers accused Shilbe of stripping a woman naked in his home and hit her in the buttocks, causing bruising that was visible three days later.Troopers said the incident occurred during the time frame of 5 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 p.m. Nov. 4. The woman told troopers she had been drinking when she went to Shilbe's home to talk with him. The woman also told them she lost consciousness and last remembered being naked with Schilbe hitting her very hard.
