A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Tobyhanna.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers observed a vehicle parked along SR940 at Short Lane, with its hazard lights on. Officers stopped to check on the welfare of the occupants and made contact with the driver, identified as Mark Kanaley Sr., 51, of Stroudsburg.

Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Kanaley. He admitted drinking and submitted to field sobriety tests, which he failed.

He was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results.
