Santa coming to town Saturday
He's made his list, checked it twice, and knows by now who's been naughty or nice.
Back by popular demand, Santa Claus will arrive in a fire truck to greet children in the Palmerton Borough Park bandstand at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The annual event will once again be sponsored by the Palmerton and Aquashicola fire departments and the Pool Pals of the Palmerton Memorial Park.
Susie Arner, president of Pool Pals of Palmerton Memorial Park, said the organizations are proud to be able to back the event.
"These groups are pleased to work together to continue this community tradition," Arner said. "Special thanks to the local merchants who donated items for the goody bags."
There will be free cookies and hot chocolate for those who await their visit with Santa. Each child who visits with Santa will receive a free goody bag. Parents are reminded to bring their own cameras to take pictures.
There will be a free drawing for a chance to win a 2012 child season membership to the pool, as well as a chance to win a Toys R Us gift certificate. Only those children who visit with Santa will be entered in the drawing.
Arner urged those who attend the event to visit businesses in the downtown afterward.
"Everyone is encouraged to support the local merchants after their visit with Santa," she said. "It is because of their support that these events happen."
