After 13 weeks of prognosticating winners and office trash talking, the TIMES NEWS Sports Department has crowned Jason Boris its 2011 Grid Picks Champion.

It is Boris' sixth Grid Picks Title in his 11 years on staff (since 2001), as he finished the annual high school football contest with an overall record of 147-48 (a .754 winning percentage).After starting the year two-games out of first place, Boris grabbed a share of the lead in week two and held it for the final 12 weeks of the season. Boris also captured Grid Picks Championships in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2009, in addition to four second-place finishes (2003, 2004, 2007, 2008) and one third-place finish (2010). His 11-year overall winning percentage is .754 (1,567-511).Finishing in second place for the second consecutive year was Andy Steinmetz, who ended up four games back with a record of 143-52.After finishing in last place in the 2010 competition, Bob Ford rebounded with a third-place finish (141-54), while Rod Heckman claimed fourth place with a record of 140-55. Since 1990, Heckman has won or shared six Grid Picks Championships.Sports staff veteran Ed Hedes and rookie Brad Hurley tied for fifth place with records of 136-59.Mike Haines claimed seventh place (135-60) and Emmett McCall finished in eighth place (131-64).T.J. Engle dug himself out of the basement in the final week of the season to take ninth-place (127-68), while this year's last-place finisher was Shawn McFardland who finished 21-games back with a record of 126-69.
