Body found in Lehigh River is identified

A woman found dead in the Lehigh River near Weatherly on Friday morning has been identified.

According to police, she is Joann Hagen, 63, of White Haven.

The cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy is scheduled.

She reportedly was found by kayakers at about 11:25 a.m. Friday near Lehigh Gorge State Park Trail, just east of Rockport in Lehigh Township.

Trooper Christopher Hill of the Hazleton barracks of the state police, the investigator in the incident, said the woman was wearing a wedding band and a diamond ring on her left hand.

Her body was pulled from the river by the water rescue unit of the Lehighton Fire Department.
