Lehigh crash kills New Tripoli driver

An 18-year-old New Tripoli resident died in a one-vehicle crash on Thanksgiving eve at 5:35 p.m. in the area of 3741 Weidasville Road in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Ryan Michael Hamell was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.A second person in the crash, Alexander L. Buskirk, 18, of Schnecksville, sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to the hospital, police said.Police said the accident happened when Hamell was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan northbound on Weidasville Road and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go off the east side of the road and striking two trees before coming to its final rest.The investigation is continuing.
