The treasurer of a Schuylkill County club admitted stealing over $200,000 from the organization.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Stacy Kassab, 37, of Pine Grove, has been charged with stealing $211,526 from the Pine Grove Fish & Game Portective Association, 7 Geary Wolfe Rd., in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers said Kassab took the money over a period of Jan. 1, 2008, through Oct. 16.

Troopers said Kassab's job was to maintain bank accounts, pay venders and expenses, keep accurate financial records of bank accounts, and deposit cash into the association's bank accounts. She failed to make cash deposits for the club, troopers said.

Troopers said the club never audited Kassab's accounts.

Trooper John Sleboda Jr., the prosecutor, interviewed Kassab. She waived her rights and admitted taking the money. She told Sleboda that she used the money for personal expenses and a gambling habit.

Monday Sleboda filed charges of theft, receiving stolen property and theft by failure to make required dispositon of funds received and Kassab. Because of the large amount of money involved, each count is a felony three.

Kassab was arraigned on the charges on Tuesday before District Judge Carol Pankake of Tremont and released after she posted 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
