A pickup truck and a tractor with trailer were involved in a crash in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, along SR61 in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Theodore J. Hill, 40, of Monroe, Ohio, was operating a 2006 Freightliner tractor with trailer northbound in the right lane while Michael T. Thompson, 32, of Pottsville, was driving a 1987 Ford F350 pickup truck northbound in the left lane.

Troopers said Hill suddenly moved into the left lane and slowed down with Thompson's truck hitting the rear of the trailer. After impact the rig crossed the southbound lane and pulled off into a vacant lot. The Ford continued north about 30 feet before stopping.

Thompson was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, by Orwigsburg ambulance. Hill was not injured.

Troopers cited Hill for turning movements and required signal while Thompson was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
