Tamaqua Rte. 309 detour in effect
ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Sections of the railway, on both sides of Route 309, were removed prior to the beginning of the construction project in Tamaqua.
Route 309 in Tamaqua was closed beginning at 7 p.m. yesterday while crews work to replace a 230-foot section of rail across the highwayin the southern part of Tamaqua, near the Hess gas station.
It will be closed until Monday morning around 5 a.m. Northbound traffic is being detoured 18.8 miles via Route 443 east to Route 902 north, and then to Route 209 west.
Southbound traffic follows the same route, only in reverse.
