School board races decided in two districts

Races for seats on area school boards in the TIMES NEWS coverage area were decided in two districts that had races.

The Tamaqua Area School District had no race as five were to be elected and five gained both party nominations in the May primary. However, in Blue Mountain and Mahanoy Area, there was a race for a seat on the board.

The results follow:

Tamaqua Area

In Tamaqua Area School District five incumbents won both nominations in the primary, four year terms.

There unopposed vote totals were as follows: Wanda Y. Zuber 2,531; Robert W. Betz 2,485; Eileen A. Meiser 2,485; Daniel E. Schoener 2,401; and Larry A. Wittig 2,289.

There were 91 write-in votes which will not change anything.

Blue Mountain

In the Blue Mountain School District there was a race for five, four year terms.

The top five were Scodtt Reichert 3,216; Heather L. Gosch 3,166; John Granito 3,078; Maraci Cryts-Kramer 2,922; and David Lafko 2,555. Odd person out is Alicia Keller with 2,433. There were 73 write-in votes which will not change the outcome.

Mahanoy Area

In the Mahanoy Area School District there were six candidates for five, four year seats.

The winners were David Kurzinsky 1,562; Nancy M. Boyle 1,483; John F. Erbe 1,413; Michael J. Mistishen 1,229; and Thomas Bashinsky 1,189. The odd person out is Beth S. Bradbury with 642.

There were 989 write-in votes, but based on the totals, they were no change the results.

Hazleton Area

Voters in Kline Township and McAdoo vote for seats on the Hazleton Area School Board.

There were six candidates for five seats, four year terms.

The winners in Schuylkill County were Robert W. Childs 1,166; Brian Earley 1,152; Tony Bonomo 1,147; Robbie Wallace 1,133; and Marfy Yanac 943. Odd person out was Rocco Formica 772.

Adding the totals from Luzerne and Carbon counties, who vote in the district, the winners were Childs, Earley, Bonomo, Wallace and Yanac.
