A fire is burning underground near a mine pit about a half mile northeast of Lansford's Andrewsville section. Apparently the fire is feeding on coal. Glowing coals are visible in holes beneath the surface. The burning area covers about 15 square feet. It was discovered this week by Robert Vybrenner of East Ridge Street, Lansford, who was hunting small game on the top of the Hauto Maountain and saw smoke. Thinking it was a burning rubbish pile, he went to investigate.
