Lehighton girl to attend Keystone Girls State

Ashley Otto of Lehighton Area High School has been selected by Oplinger-Hower, Unit 899, of the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Keystone Girls State.

This Experience in Government will be held at Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, June 26-July 2, and is the 66th session sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. About 200 girls are brought together through the sponsorship of local auxiliary units and other organizations to study government on the city, county and state levels.

During the week the girls will elect city, county and state officials including governor, lieutenant governor, and other officers and an outstanding citizen. Two senators will attend Girls Nation in the Washington D.C. area during the week of July 23-30.

Ashley Otto is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Otto of Lehighton.

She is active in the Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, Safe School Ambassadors, ski club, field hockey and softball.
