Rush Township police, Hometown Fire Company and fire police responded to flooding at Claremont Avenue (SR309) at Grant and Sunset streets after Monday evening's deluge of rain. One lane south was closed to traffic and a nearby residence reported two feet of water in the basement and had to be pumped out. Businesses in the area were closed for the night, meaning that many basements would not be checked for flooding until Tuesday morning.
