Palmerton 1 wins high school Envirothon

The Palmerton 1 team from Palmerton Area High School took first place during the 2011 high school Envirothon on Thursday. The team scored 401. Members of Palmerton 1 are, front on rock, Jeanne Knepper, teacher and adviser, second from left; Collin Green, Blake Campbell, team captain; Brandon Scherer; and Alex Miller. Second row, on rock, Aleksander Everett. Accompanying the team are Lion Ed Dudley, past district governor, left; Audrey Wargo, district secretary for the Carbon County Conservation District, second row, second from right; and Lion Judy Dudley, past district governor. Other teams that placed are: American Catastrophy of Lehighton Area High School, second; Eco Vikings of Lehighton Area High School, third; and Frisky Dingos of Lehighton Area High School, honorable mention. Palmerton 1 now goes on to compete in the state Envirothon on May 24 and 25 at Susquehanna University.
