Recital to be performed in memory of son
A Lehighton woman is performing a flute recital in loving memory of her son.
The recital will be given at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at Zion United Church of Christ, Second and Iron street, Lehighton.
Works from J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, W.A. Mozart, as well as more contemporary and sacred flavor, and even the Jazz style of Claude Bolling will be performed by Lora Krum, flutist.
Krum has been a flutist in the Lehighton area for many years, a member of the Lehighton Band for 30 years, and has also performed with various Lehigh Valley and other surrounding area groups as well. She is a graduate of Mansfield University where she studied with John Monaghan. Other influential flute coaches have been Robin Kani and Dr. Tim Ronning. She is also currently the director of the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band.
The recital is being performed in honor and loving memory of Lora's son, Dylan Krum, who less than a year ago was diagnosed with Pediatric Follicular Lymphoma, and lost his battle on July 15, 2010, at the age of 15. Dylan was very active in music in school as well as the community, and much of the music to be performed is significant to him, or his memory.
Musicians serving as accompanists to the flutist are Anna Mary Milot, piano; Lisa Schweitzer, piano; Bob Fatzinger, piano; Michael Muffley, bass guitar; and Henry Long, Jr., drums.
The program is open to the public, and is free of charge. A free will offering will be accepted as a gift to the church.
