Published March 31. 2011 05:01PM

The Palmerton Area Library, located at 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, has created a new program to assist students with their homework.

The volunteer Homework Helpers will assist the staff in enhancing library service by providing students in grades K-12 with after-school homework assistance to help them succeed in the classroom.

The Homework Helpers are volunteers from diverse backgrounds capable of assisting with homework assignments in English, math, science and other subjects.

All of the volunteers have completed an application process and background check.

The program will start on Wednesday, April 13 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the library and continue each Wednesday until the end of the school year.

The program is free, however parents must register students in advance on the form available at the library.

If the program is successful, additional days and times will be added to accommodate more students.

If you would like more information about this program please call the library at (610) 826-3424 and ask for Mariann.
